The organizing arm of the Buffalo Bill
Days Committee is happy to announce the continuation of Buffalo
Bill Days in downtown historic Golden on the last weekend in July
this year. This will be the 21stth year the event has been
organized and conducted by an all-volunteer Board of Directors led
by Mr. And Mrs. Buffalo Bill Days, Bill and Charlene Pazar.
Although the main portion of the
celebration kicks off on Friday evening, July 24th, and continues
until Sunday, July 26th at 5PM there are important and fun filled
earlier events. The initial one is the Buffalo Bill Days Golf
Tournament at award winning Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden on the
afternoon of Wednesday, July 22nd and on Thursday the 23rd, the
Greater Golden Chamber of Commerce will host their annual BBQ
Luncheon at the historic Buffalo Rose Events Center in downtown
Golden. |

The City of Golden is pleased to announce
that petitioners seeking the recall of six City Council members
failed to submit the necessary signatures.
Mayor Jacob Smith responded to the passing
of the deadline by saying, “Our community rallied to an
incredible extent against the threat of a recall. The City Council
will continue its focus on open government and making sure the
citizens of Golden have a voice, maintaining the City’s
financial health, and protecting our quality of life.” |

Registration is open to join the Golden
Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, for
the First Annual Recreate 5K. Recreate 5K is self-funded community
event promoting health and wellness and engaging all levels of
racers from elite runners and joggers to families with strollers
and dogs.
“The Parks and Recreation staff
wanted to develop an annual event that embraced the community by
providing a healthy activity everyone will enjoy including the
dogs,” said Angela Shea, the Recreate 5K Coordinator and the
Golden Community Wellness Coordinator.
The scenic Recreate 5K course begins at
Lions Park in front of the Golden Community Center (GCC), stretches
along Clear Creek into Jefferson County Open Space and loops back
to finish were it began. The course is an unofficial course;
however times will be recorded for the elite runner group.
Breakfast begins at 9:00 a.m. Elite runners 14 and older begin at
10:00 a.m., joggers at 10:10 a.m., and walkers, strollers, children
and dogs begin at 10:20 a.m. Lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m. and
will include a raffle.
Pre-Race Registration ends at 6:00 p.m. on
Friday, Sept. 5, 2008. Registration is $15 per person and includes
a T-Shirt and breakfast provided by Golden’s Windy Saddle
Café. Race Day Registration is $20 per person and available
until 9:30 a.m. Optional lunch is provided by D’Deli.
